History

Tatiana Leitzel aspired to be a forensic pathologist from the age of five.  In 2004 Tatiana Leitzel’s family won a trip to Hollywood, California which totally refocused her aspirations on something bigger.  During the trip they explored Universal Studios (including sets, Foley (Sound) studios, editing rooms, and more).  They got to go on the sets of many feature films (Such as Jaws, Back to the Future, Back Draft, Princess Diaries, and TV shows (Such as Crossing Jordon).   While in the screening (and editing) room of Back Draft, the tour guide explained what a film director’s personality had to be like.  They described her to a T.  Then the tour guide went on to say what a film director did.  Tatiana was always working with some type of art, whether it is drawing, charcoal, pastels, painting…so film wasn’t a big step.  Also from her previous aspiration of being a forensic pathologist, her favorite genre horror, and her determination she had from the beginning, she knew at that moment that directing was her destiny.  She nudged her mom and pointed to Ron Howard’s chair and said.  “I will be sitting there one day.”  It stuck and that moment was what changed her forever.
  • On Christmas of 2004 she received her first camera, a Sony Handycam- the TR250 (image left).  In April of 2005 she filmed a small project for school, only to lead to her Graduation project to be her first feature length film.
  • It took three months to film and was titled “DEAD END" this was the film that started it all (image above).  Once completed and shown to the Graduation Project Judges, it got the highest rating it could.

She continued to aspire, and filmed everything that interested her for transition shots.  Since no new projects were present and school was her focus, no true films were filmed for two years.  On the other hand, she got footage from already made films and continued to edit music videos that could never surface for profit, but kept her editing sharp, and was a creative outlet.

  • In 2007 she filmed a short for a NCAC contest.  National Coalition Against Censorship.  She found the project two days before it was due but fell for it, and proved to herself she could handle It under pressure.  She filmed it in one day, edited in that night, and sent it the next morning.

  • In July 2007 for Baccalaureate, and for selling, Tatiana put together a senior video which sold well.  This was her first big screening of about 700 people, laughing, crying, and brining out emotions in most new graduates and their families.

  • In September of 2007 “Silent Pulse” was filmed.  It only took two weekends and became a short.  Trezire, a musician stationed in Pittsburg, teamed up and composed the scores in the film, setting it apart from previous projects.  Due to a last minute unavailability from an actress an impulse decision for a replacement changed the rest of Tatiana’s films.  This difficult impulse decision created an outstanding performance.
  • This was the first time Amanda Clark acted in a film, and her performance blew Tatiana away.  She immediately casted her in numerous films that carries on her character and her acting skills.  This experience also changed Amanda and caused her to want to act the rest of her life.  She went to Barbizon and graduated in 2008.  Her excellent acting let Tatiana’s next projects be bigger and better.

In early 2008 Tatiana filmed a music video for an aspiring hip hop/ rap artist; Big Papa Brown.

The Studio upgraded to a Canon XHA1 Camera.  So from this point forward, footage will be in HD.

DEAD END STUDIOS became an official company in May of 2008.

In the end of July of 2008 DEAD END STUDIOS took on filming a commercial.  Dibs the ice cream snack offered ten thousand, being aired on MTV for a half hour, and your commercial would be theirs on TV.  They unfortunately did not win, but they still are able to use it in their portfolios.
